    These videos are so great! As a private pilot student, the ACS is a hard study to avoid wrote memorization for me and turning these on in the background or at work is so so helpful in retaining the information and understanding each part. Keep up the great work and thank you for making our checkrides less daunting👍

    You should make a paid course going over the full acs; I’d pay money for that. It’s one thing to run through kings or sportys, but they don’t touch this stuff more than a few basic mentions. Looking forward to getting your ACE guide this week, but damn would I shell out for a full acs explained. Edits due to voice to text at work.

    Amazing content! I’m currently at step 0 (waiting for my medical exam to make sure I can fly from a health standpoint) and starting to dip my toe into the material I’ll need to learn to earn certifications. This scenario-based learning is very helpful for not just memorizing information but putting deeper context behind it. I haven’t even been to ground school but feel like I can reason my way through a portion of the PPL oral exam. I’ll definitely check back for more content!

    Thank you for a great video. I've been using ForeFlight for about a year now and just learned a few new things! Also, I actually had my iPad overheat during the first approach of my instrument checkride. After a brief moment of panic, as it had never happened to me before, I pulled out my phone and continued the approach, putting the ipad into a shaded spot. By the time we got to the next approach, it was working again and gave me no further issues. It CAN happen

    DPEs in my area refuse to talk to us instructors after tests. I know it’s not true for all areas. I wish all DPEs were more like you and other good DPEs. I do wish DPEs at least acknowledge that check ride failures end careers. I know several CFIs at my school that all have been told by the airlines that they’ll never fly for them. They all have between 2-5 failures.

    47:15 There are trade offs. Full power produces more heat to melt ice faster, but at a greater risk of detonation, especially near sea level on a hot day. Ideally, you would use carb heat at somewhat reduced power, but immediately after a period of full power. The heat capacity of the exhaust headers stores and releases heat for a significant period of time, while the reduced power setting eliminates the risk of detonation from high-temperature intake charge air. At altitude, the reduced air temperature and density reduces detonation risk even at wide open throttle.

    With multiple fuel tanks: Add them into the Aircraft W&B profile, in the order in which they fill or drain. When you do a partial fill or use up some fuel, ForeFlight will use the first tank you added, then the next, next. I had a problem in the LearJet I fly wherein it would fill the Fuselage Tank first. This would greatly throw off the Wt&Bal. I deleted it and added it back in, now it's fixed. I think FF calls this "Fuel Sequencing" and says it's not available with a scratch built airplane profile. * Spread this around. FF doesn't have the answer.

    I remember hearing about and thumbing through the VSL guide in my commercial training with a friend who’d purchased already. At the time, i had a hard time justifying, but i could never quite let it go. As i worked thru my CFI rating, i realized how AWESOME this tool is. Worth the purchase, and something i will show my students as a tool for them to have through their training and forever at their fingertips. Thanks Seth.

    • @SethLakeDPE
      @SethLakeDPE Місяць тому

      It's a 1:2 ratio. The camshaft revolves once for every two turns of the crankshaft.
